Press Release on the Occasion of Republic Day

On the occasion of Republic Day of Nepal, the Embassy of Nepal in Doha organized a Programme at the Embassy premises. At the outset, the Ambassador of Nepal to the State of Qatar HE Prof. Ramesh Prasad Koirala hoisted the national flag of Nepal inside the Embassy Chancery. The main part of the programme was commenced with playing of the national anthem of Nepal, followed by singing of the national song by the cultural team in Doha.

Welcoming the guests, HE Prof. Ramesh Prasad Koirala, Ambassador of Nepal to the State of Qatar, underscored sacrifices made by Nepali nationals for establishing Nepal as Federal Democratic Republican state 10 years before. He said that the day marks the real meaning of Government by the people and for the people by ending 240 years long unitary/centralized governance system. Nepal’s stride towards development and institutionalization of peace is further strengthened by the promulgation of the Constitution of Nepal in 2072 BS. The constitution has enshrined competitive multi-party democratic republic governance system, civil liberty, fundamental rights, human rights, periodic election, complete press freedom, impartial and competent judiciary, rule of law, peace and good-governance as enshrined in the preamble, he said.

Ambassador Mr. Koirala thanked Nepali community in Qatar for their contribution towards the community welfare and related activities andsaid to further their activities by giving utmost priority to the state and nationality. He urged Nepali community to work in accordance with the Government of Nepal’s vision of ‘Prosper Nepal, Happy Nepali’ for a peaceful, prosper and developed Nepal.

The program was attended by the Nepali community representatives, women, doctors, engineers, professors, businessmen and journalists. Nepali community representatives also expressed good wishes on the occasion. Nepali cultural groups also performed cultural shows in the programme. The programme was followed by a reception dinner.
