Biography of H.E. Mr. Ramesh Chandra Paudel

 

Ramesh Chandra Paudel, born on July 10, 1952, in Aathrai Rural Municipality, Terhathum, Nepal, hails from a family rooted in values and education. He has dedicated his life to public service, education, and community development.

Mr. Paudel earned a Master’s in Business Administration and Commerce from Tribhuvan University in 1981. His extensive career has spanned various leadership roles, including serving as the City Mayor of Biratnagar Sub-Metropolitan City. He also served Tribhuvan University for more than seventeen years as a lecturer. Along with teaching and academic research, he also held crucial positions in various government-owned public entities such as the Chief Executive Officer of the Employees Provident Fund, Board of Directors of Jute Development and Trading Corporation, Management Expert for the restructuring of Biratnagar Jute Mills Ltd and Raghupati Jute Mills Ltd., while on deputation to the government.

Mr. Paudel’s dedication to education, research, and training is evident in his initiatives, such as founding the Birat Campus, School of Science and Technology, Madan Bhandari Technological University, Madan Bhandari Memorial Academy, Institute for Policy Research and Development Institute of Local Governance Studies and, Birat Deaf Secondary School, being all community owned organizations. He has authored various articles on economics, business, and good governance, and served as a guest trainer for notable organizations including Nepal Rastra Bank, the central bank of the country, and Consumer International.

Mr. Paudel has participated in numerous international seminars, symposiums, conferences, and study visits in several countries, that addressed the issues of urban development, good governance, and sustainable development.

Fluent in Nepali, with a good command of English, Hindi, and Maithili, Mr. Ramesh Chandra Paudel continues to impact society through his leadership, educational initiatives, and policy research.
